Youth Sports

We welcome kids of all ages and abilities into our youth sports programs where all kids get equal playing & practice time. Our programs’ focus is on teamwork, fundamentals, and enrichment in a safe and positive environment.

While we do appreciate healthy competition, we are also aware that everyone must start somewhere. Whether your child is a seasoned athlete, or a complete ‘noob’, our youth sports programs are designed to get everyone involved.

  • Youth Hoops is our recreational basketball program designed for kids (K – MS) to have fun while learning sportsmanship, as well as basketball rules and skills. NNSR Youth Hoops is offered in the winter, and fall every year. Our referees are dedicated to explaining fouls before announcing them, and concentrate on communicating rules to the players during game play. This program is for all levels of ability. Sessions run 8-weeks.

    Season end dates are contingent upon weather closures. Games cancelled will be made up at the end of the session. Practices cancelled will be made up with in the session if time and field availability allow.

    For: Grades Kindergarten through Middle School

    Divisions:

    Kindergarten/1st Grade - CO-ED
    2nd/3rd Grade - CO-ED
    3rd/4th Grade - Boys/Girls divisions
    5th/6th Grade - Boys/Girls divisions
    Middle School - Boys/Girls divisions

    When: League offered in Winter and Fall. Games and practices will be held two days a week Monday-Friday after 5:30pm for 50 minutes, no weekend games or practices. Teams and schedules are made no more than two weeks before the program start date. Schedules cannot be made early, since we need to have a good idea of how many kids we have in each division for each location.

    Where: Sparks, South Reno, Northwest Reno, and North Valleys. Locations may vary based on availability and season.

    Sparks Locations - Mendive MS, Sky Ranch MS, and Sparks MS.

    South Reno Locations - Depoali MS, Pine MS, and Neil Road Recreation Center.

    Northwest Reno Locations - Billinghurst MS, Clayton MS, and Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center.

    North Valleys Locations - Cold Springs Middle School and O'Brien Middle School.

    Cost: $155 per player. Includes jersey, Memory Mate photo, and participation award. Registrations received after the registration period has ended will be considered as long as there is room in the league. Late registrations + $20.

  • For: High School kids grade 9 - 12

    When: League offered in Spring and Fall. Games and practices will be held two days a week Monday-Friday after 5:30pm for 50 minutes, no weekend games or practices. High School Hoops runs for approx. 8 weeks. League end date is subject to change due to unforeseen cancellations, such as adverse weather conditions or facility issues.

    Where: Sparks

    Cost: $100 for individual registrations or $550 for team registrations. Cost includes jersey.

  • NNSR Youth Flag Football is an NFL Flag affiliated league played in Sparks, South Reno, Northwest Reno, and North Valleys. Youth Flag Football programs are offered in the Spring and Fall. The program is for children grades kindergarten through middle school, and teams are divided into age divisions. All divisions in our flag football program are co-ed.

    Our youth flag football program is designed to develop and enhance players fundamental skills of passing, catching and defensive abilities in a safe and fun environment. Skills and game strategy are instructed by our volunteer coaches while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. League policy is that everyone is equally engaged in games and practices. Everybody plays the same amount of time and has an equally important role on the team. Are you ready for some football?

    Cost: $155 per player. Includes NFL jersey, Memory Mate photo, and participation award. Please be sure to order the correct size jersey. Jersey exchanges take about a week to complete, and will be subject to a $20 fee. Accepted registrations submitted past the open registration period incur a $20 late fee.

  • NNSR peewee sports programs introduce children (3-5 y.o.) to organized sports and recreation. Our programs are designed to instruct the most basic skills of a sport. We focus on fundamentals while keeping the kids engaged and having fun. Our peewee program offers a variety of sports throughout the year, including basketball, football, soccer and t-ball.

    Group instruction is held on Saturdays at 9:30 (3 y.o.), 10:30 (4 y.o.), 11:30 (5 y.o.). Sessions typically run for 7 weeks. Holidays and weather can cause the program to be shorter if there is limited space/time for make-ups.

    Equipment: Please have your child wear nonrestrictive clothing, athletic shoes, and bring water bottles. Cleats are not recommended, but OK as long they don't have metal spikes. For soccer, shin guards are highly recommended. T-Ball participant are encouraged to bring a mitt. We do have loaners (L & R hand) if needed.

    For: Ages 3 to 5. Child must be 3 by program start date and no older than 5 at program start date. Siblings are allowed, but children are not permitted to move down in age groups. For example, no 5 year olds in the 4 year old group.

    When: Saturdays 9:30 to 10:20 3 year olds, 10:30 to 11:20 4 year olds, 11:30 to 12:20 5 year olds. T-Ball is held in the afternoon at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30.

    Format: Group instruction except T-Ball. T-Ball is broken into teams with individual game schedules.

    Cost: $75 per session. Accepted registrations submitted after the open registration period incur a $20 late fee.

    $90 for t-ball. Includes jersey (Sizes youth XS - youth large) and participation award. T-Ball also include Memory Mate photo and team hat.

  • Coach Stewart brings his nineteen years of coaching experience to this new program that NNSR is excited to offer: G.O.A.T. (Get Out And Train). As a certified AAU Basketball Coach, Coach Stewart has ten years of training experience, seven years of coaching high school basketball, and five years as a strength and conditioning coach. He is also a proud US Navy veteran. His discipline and attention to detail is incorporated into building these 3 week programs focusing on the 5 pillars of skill development: Strength/Conditioning, Dribbling, Passing, Shooting/Scoring, and Defensive Fundamentals. Coach Stewart's passion for basketball and coaching will build a solid foundation to help players develop into stronger and more confident athletes.

    We will be offering 3 three-week sessions during the summer break. Each session will meet twice a week for an hour. You will register for the grade your child will be going into for the 2024-25 school year. The Age Groups will be as follows:

    6-7pm- 3rd-5th grade

    7-8pm- 6th-8th Grade

    8-9pm- 9th-12th Grade

    Session 1 (Held at Neil Rd Recreation Center) Tuesday & Fridays 6/11-6/28

    Session 2 (Held at Excel Christian School) Monday & Wednesdays 7/1-7/17

  • NNSR is excited to offer our 2nd annual youth volleyball program. We will be offering programs for 3-5th grade; 6-8th grade kids. Program is co-ed. Age groups will meet twice a week for 6 weeks. Program will be an hour each night. The emphasis of this program is to introduce kids to the game of volleyball and help kids improve their skills and understanding of the game. Program will be available in South Reno (Depoali) and Sparks (Mendive).

    Program Cost: $125

    Program starts August 19th and runs through September 26th. Teams meet on Tuesday and Thursdys
